Mercedes-Benz has long been known for its diverse range of innovative vehicles, often setting the benchmark across various segments. Recently, the brand has broadened its product offerings even further. At the end of 2016, the X-class pickup concept car was unveiled, signaling Mercedes-Benz's entry into the pickup market. Just yesterday, the company released a new teaser video, confirming that the luxurious X-class pickup would be officially launched on the 18th of this month. Fans who have eagerly awaited this moment will finally get a glimpse of what Mercedes-Benz has been working on.
The new X-class pickup series from Mercedes-Benz is now officially here. Built on the same platform as the Nissan Navara and Renault Alaskan, the vehicle will be manufactured at Nissan’s and Renault’s facilities in Barcelona, Spain, and Córdoba, Argentina, respectively.

With the unveiling of the X-Class concept car last October, we already knew that the production version of the high-end Mercedes-Benz X-Class pickup was imminent. Now, it’s finally here.

In Germany, the starting price for the X-Class is set at 37,294 euros, which translates to approximately 290,000 RMB.

Under the hood, the X 200 is powered by a four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 166 horsepower and 238 Nm of torque. The X 220 d and X 250 d models are equipped with a four-cylinder diesel engine, offering 163 and 190 horsepower, respectively, with peak torques of 403 Nm and 450 Nm. The transmission options include either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic (available only on the X 250 d models). Both the X 220 d and X 250 d models can also be fitted with a 4MATIC full-time four-wheel-drive system (standard models are rear-wheel drive).

With its sleek design, a variety of petrol and diesel engine options, and versatile chassis, the X-Class is poised to meet the expectations of luxury pickup buyers looking for something truly special.

This is a high-end pickup like none other—a vehicle you didn’t know you needed until now.

The X-Class boasts impressive dimensions: 210 inches (5.34 meters) in length, 75.6 inches (1.92 meters) in width, and a wheelbase of 124 inches (3.15 meters). Its maximum payload capacity is 2,297 lbs (1042 kg), with a ground clearance of 7.95 inches (202 mm). The X-Class offers a competitive 20.4-degree approach angle, surpassing rivals like the Chevrolet Colorado (17.6 degrees) and Honda Ridgeline (20.1 degrees).

Depending on the configuration, the new vehicle will be available with 17-, 18-, and 19-inch wheels.

Mercedes-Benz has officially launched its first luxury pickup, the X-Class, priced at an impressive 290,000 RMB.

This practical yet stylish vehicle is designed to handle any terrain, from snowy roads to urban jungles.

Unfortunately, the X-Class won't be available in China anytime soon. However, let's take a closer look at these stunning images. As Chinese attitudes towards pickups evolve, perhaps one day this vehicle could make its way into the market.

Based on last year’s concept car, the production model will be sold in most parts of the world except the United States. It will be assembled at Renault’s plant in Córdoba, Argentina, and Nissan’s facility in Barcelona, Spain. These two factories will cater to different regional markets.

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that there are no plans for an AMG X-Class due to the vehicle’s primary focus on cargo capacity and towing ability. Current specifications allow for a maximum load of 7,720 pounds (3.5 tons).

Positioned against Volkswagen’s Amarok, the first Mercedes-Benz X-Class is expected to offer both four- and six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engines, paired with 4MATIC gearboxes.

Built on last year’s concept model, the production version will be available in most global markets excluding the U.S., with manufacturing taking place at Renault’s Córdoba plant in Argentina and Nissan’s Barcelona facility in Spain.

The X-Class comes standard with a 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, a rear differential lock, and low-speed driving mode. The company stated that a more advanced permanent all-wheel-drive system will be available next year, providing enhanced off-road capabilities.

So elegant and practical, but unfortunately, it won’t be coming to China. For now, let’s enjoy these images from afar. As Chinese perceptions of pickups evolve, perhaps this remarkable vehicle will find its way into the country.
In summary, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class is a bold step into the luxury pickup segment, offering a blend of style, performance, and functionality. While its availability in China remains uncertain, it stands as a testament to Mercedes-Benz's commitment to innovation and diversity in its product lineup.
