The NCL30000 is a controller specifically designed for small to medium-sized switching power supplies, particularly for single-stage PFC LED drivers. It boasts an impressively low startup current of 24uA and an operational current of just 2mA, providing cycle-by-cycle current protection. Additionally, it can source up to 500mA of current, making it ideal for applications such as LED driver power supplies, commercial and residential LED decorative lighting, and PFC constant voltage power supplies. The NCL30000 is tailored for low to medium-power single-stage power factor (PF) corrected LED drivers. Since the current reaches zero before the main MOSFET switch is reactivated, recovery losses in the output rectifier are negligible.

The device includes a programmable on-time limiter, zero current detection sensing block, gate driver, trans-conductance error amplifier, and all necessary PWM control circuits and protection functions to implement a CrM switch-mode power supply. With a low startup current, it enables fast and low-loss charging of the VCC capacitor. The current sense protection threshold is set at 500mV to minimize power dissipation in the external sense resistor. To ensure reliable performance across a wide range of solid-state lighting applications, the device is specified for operation over a broad junction temperature range from -40°C to 125°C.
