His film Nebraska is a black and white movie. It is not unusual to shoot a black and white movie now. Phedon Papamichael's favorite is to illuminate with small lamps, which he calls The Fish Light. This light is very simple and very convenient. He comes from old-fashioned light bulbs and three 250-watt soft light bulbs.

When shooting in the room, the three bulbs were placed in a small Chimera Video PRO softbox, which produced soft light and quickly created eye-catching light.

I also like the shape of it, and the eye light formed in the eyes is very good. The power is not high, but it can output a lot of light. The light used with the OctoDome's diffuser is usually a 1K lamp from Tetri, then I just need to adjust the DIMMER or adjust the light-limited grid on the OctoDome.

I used a lot of such lamps in the movie "the human voice". The movie I shot in Rome and Naples with C500 was Sofia and his son. OctoDome is the main equipment for lighting Sophia, it allows me to be close to the actors at a suitable angle. I found the best position of the main light. Because the actor was very close to the light, the light behind it quickly decayed and the background darkened. I placed the light as close as possible to the camera and the height was relative to the caster's forehead. This light position usually makes the lens look flat, but because the distance is very close, the back light is quickly attenuated, so the character can still stand out from the dark background.
