145 million US dollars Dalian built China's largest LED chip factory
The reporter learned from the Municipal Information Industry Bureau that Taiwan's giant energy technology company based in Hong Kong has decided to invest 145 million US dollars to establish LED (light-emitting diode) chip production plant in Dalian High-tech Zone. After all production, Dalian Giant Energy will become China's largest LED chip production plant. The investment of Giant Energy Technology shows that the pace of Taiwanese capital expansion in the mainland is accelerated, and the city has become the city of choice for Taiwanese investment in the Northeast.
Giant Energy Technology Co., Ltd. is a company specializing in the field of semiconductor optoelectronics. Its factory in Dalian will be engaged in the research and development and production of LED design, epitaxial wafer manufacturing, chip packaging and related application modules, including the formation of upstream epitaxial and midstream crystal grains. A one-stop production system for downstream packaging, modules and applications. The first phase of the project, which invested about US$45 million in two years, was completed and put into production. Construction of LED chip production plants (including red, yellow and blue, green, white light one production line), the monthly production capacity of chips reached 500 million. After two years and two phases of investment, the monthly production capacity will reach 2 billion.
In addition to giant energy technology, Taiwan's Wanghong Electronics, Youshun Technology and other integrated circuit companies are also actively planning to invest in or increase capital. Wanghong plans to invest in integrated circuit design company in the high-tech zone. Youshun Technology plans to expand its packaging business to the city while connecting the IC design business. Taiwan's Electrical and Electronic Industry Association, Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute, SEMI/Taiwan and Southeast Asia Association, Powerchip Semiconductor, ASE Semiconductor and other industry organizations and important enterprises are also interested in the city.
Dalian's good industrial base, its advantages and potential in terms of labor costs and energy supply, and the transportation and business costs that are resolved by direct flights are important reasons for attracting Taiwanese companies to see major companies. The pace of Taiwanese semiconductor companies investing in the west and north of the mainland has accelerated, and it has brought about very favorable opportunities for the city to undertake industrial transfer.
