I found an LCD screen meter that had been stored for half a year and never used. I didn’t know how to operate it, so I posted about it on a forum. It was also said to be a dot screen, but the user claimed they bought and used it — which turned out to be a lie.
I decided to give it a try. I turned on my LCD TV and took out the dot screen device. The device can output an LVDS signal, and the screen cable socket is universal. To make it work, I needed a compatible universal screen cable.
The dot screen I bought came with 7 cables, but after checking, they were already used several times and not in good condition. This matches what other sellers have mentioned — there’s no way to "click" the screen without the right cable.
Then I thought, why not use the original TV screen cable and modify it to fit the new screen? That way, I could create a custom cable that works with both the TV and the dot screen.
I took a 30P single 8 universal cable (the same as my TV's screen cable), cut off the top part, and left one end as a universal plug. I then modified the original TV screen cable by removing one end and connecting it to the motherboard. Based on standard screen cable connections, I matched the power lines, clock line, and four data pairs, making sure all connections were properly insulated.
Once the cable was ready, I started the screening process.
Below is a picture of the successfully screened dot screen.
In conclusion, no matter what equipment you use, the key is having the right screen cable and a proper dot-screen program. Often, you have to make your own cable, otherwise, as some people say, the screen won't work, and the device you paid for becomes useless.
