Electromagnetic flowmeter selection - Huaqiang Electronic Network

The electromagnetic flowmeter is composed of two main parts: the electromagnetic flow sensor and the flow converter. The sensor includes components such as the measuring tube, electrodes, excitation coils, core, yoke, and housing. The measuring tube is typically a non-magnetic alloy short pipe lined with an insulating material. For proper operation, the fluid being measured must be conductive, such as a liquid or slurry. It should not contain ferromagnetic substances or bubbles. The selection of the flowmeter depends on factors like temperature, pressure, corrosivity, and wear of the fluid. The design of the flowmeter—such as its diameter, flow range, lining material, electrode material, and output current—should be based on the physical and chemical properties of the fluid. These devices are widely used in industries including petroleum, chemicals, metallurgy, textiles, food, pharmaceuticals, paper, and more, as well as in environmental protection, municipal management, and water infrastructure projects. For accurate measurements, the fluid must have a conductivity higher than 5 μS/cm. Non-conductive fluids like gas, steam, oil, or acetone cannot be measured using large-diameter electromagnetic flowmeters. When determining the sensor size, the flow velocity should ideally fall between 0.3 m/s and 15 m/s. If the flow rate is below 0.3 m/s, the instrument may use a contraction method to increase the local flow speed for better accuracy. There are two types of electromagnetic flowmeters: integrated and split. An integrated type is recommended when the installation environment is stable and suitable. In this configuration, the sensor and converter are combined into one unit. A split-type system is preferred in certain conditions: 1. When the ambient temperature or the surface of the flowmeter exceeds 60°C. 2. In areas with significant pipe vibration. 3. When the sensor's aluminum casing shows severe corrosion. 4. In high-temperature environments or where corrosive gases are present. 5. When the flowmeter is installed in hard-to-reach locations, such as at high altitudes or underground. This type of flowmeter is essential for precise and reliable measurement in various industrial applications. Its versatility and durability make it a popular choice across multiple sectors. Whether installed in a controlled indoor setting or in harsh outdoor conditions, the electromagnetic flowmeter remains a critical tool for monitoring fluid flow accurately and efficiently. ![Electromagnetic Flowmeter](http://i.bosscdn.com/blog/20/17/10/21162751184907.jpg)
