How can interactive graphics play? Take you to the SIGGRAPH 2016 highlights

SIGGRAPH is the top annual conference for computer graphics organized by ACM SIGGRAPH (Computer Graphics Group, American Computer Association). The first SIGGRAPH conference was held in 1974, and tens of thousands of computer practitioners participated in the conference. The SIGGRAPH full name is Special Interest Group for Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques, namely: Computer Graphics and Interactive Technology Special Interest Group. The organization was initiated by Professor Andries van Dam of Brown University and Sam Masta of IBM. Founded in 1967, it is dedicated to the promotion and development of hardware and software technologies for computer graphics and animation. The manuscripts submitted to the SIGGRAPH meeting are very strict. Many people submit papers each year, but the number of papers accepted is small. In the past few years, the average acceptance rate of SIGGRAPH is about 21%.

The 43rd SIGGRAPH Conference on Computer Graphics and Interactive Technology was held in Anaheim, California. The conference will last for five days from July 24th to 28th. During this period, there will be exchanges and learning among various disciplines, as well as the world’s most authoritative forum for computer graphics search, as well as innovations in digital media, immersive reality, emerging interactive technologies, and advanced telephone systems. Have the opportunity to personally participate in innovation cooperation.

The purpose of the SIGGRAPH conference in 2016 is to cultivate awareness of innovation, integrate computer graphics interaction technology into our lives, and seek to make positive contributions to the world around us. The conference includes the following sections: research, study, experience, computer animation festival, event awards, industry exhibitions, etc. Details are as follows:

the study

Research papers, posters, and talks have made new contributions to computer graphics and interactive technology knowledge. Posters and talks will convey the initial stage of research so that presenters can receive feedback from the industry. Theoretical or important research papers refer to previous related work and rigorously demonstrate the validity of their conclusions. Although all SIGGRAPH submissions are peer-reviewed, research papers are conducted in a more formal, quality review process with academic journals and published in quotable files. In general, it includes the following aspects:

ACM STUDENT RESEARCH COMPETITION

ART PAPERS

POSTERS

Talks (TALKS)

Technical Papers (TECHNICAL PAPERS)

Learn

The following project provides educational opportunities and discussion forums, including formal theme presentations, computer graphics, and interactive experience sharing. These forums allow participants to “accelerate” in the graphic world to understand concepts that are completely new to them, learn from active participants, and share their insights in new areas. Including the following aspects:

The Discussion Group (BIRDS OF A FEATHER)

Course (COURSES)

EDUCATORS FORUM

EXPERIENCE PRESENTATIONS

International Center (INTERNATIONAL CENTER)

Special Session (PANELS)

PRODUCTION SESSIONS

experience

In the SIGGRAPH 2016 experience project, participants will see and get in touch with applications, presentations, and have the opportunity to personally access the latest research exhibitions in each laboratory: from mobile VR to tactile technology, real-time game sequencing, 3D printing, virtual reality, and more. Including the following aspects:

Application time (APPY HOUR)

ART GALLERY

Emerging Technology (EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES)

Live Streaming (REAL-TIME LIVE!)

Studio (STUDIO)

VR Group (VR VILLAGE)

Computer Animation Festival

For the world's most innovative, intelligent, and amazing digital movies and videos, this is an annual festival. It was selected by a famous international jury in hundreds of contestants. This year's award-winning works include:

The Steven Anson Coons Award For Outstanding Creative Contributions To Computer Graphics

The Steven Anson Coons Award to: Ivan E. Sutherland, Pierre Bézier, Donald P. Greenberg, David C. Evans, Andries van Dam, Edwin Catmull, Jose Encarnação, James D. Foley, James F. Blinn, Lance Williams, Pat Hanrahan, Tomoyuki Nishita, Nelson Max, Rob Cook, Jim Kajiya, Turner Whitted, and Henry Fuchs.

Also worthy of attention is this SIGGRAPH KEYNOTE SESSION, which was delivered by Z. Nagin Cox from NASA's JPL Lab.

The theme of her speech was "Brave to Do Difficult Things: Exploring the World Outside the Earth"

Z. Nagin Cox, an NASA JPL laboratory spacecraft engineer, shared with us the story of her implementation of NASA's mission. It also allowed us to think about the application of our technology in practice and our own application in the universe. This also reminds us that in the exploration system of the solar system robot, all humans can contribute their own strength.

Industry Exhibition

The conference will also hold a three-day industry exhibition to get the latest hardware systems, software tools and hundreds of companies' innovative services.
