After the successful trial of the 5G communication network in Europe, the company is now moving forward with commercial deployment. The completion of the 5G technical standard marks a major milestone in this journey.

In mid-October, Deutsche Telekom conducted a real-world 5G test in Berlin alongside its partner Huawei. The test utilized Massive MIMO technology, the 3GPP 5G New Radio (NR) standard, and the 3.7 GHz spectrum, achieving impressive high-speed data transmission and low latency. This was the first such test in Europe, demonstrating the potential of 5G technology.
According to Bruno Jacobfeuerborn, CTO of Deutsche Telekom, as soon as the 5G standard is finalized and the necessary supplier technologies are ready, the company plans to begin building its 5G network in 2018, laying the groundwork for full commercial rollout.
The company’s goal is to have 5G business operational by 2020, though specific strategies remain undisclosed. In addition to Huawei, Deutsche Telekom has partnered with other key players in the telecom industry, including Nokia, Ericsson, and Intel, to drive forward its 5G initiatives.
With the rapid development of 5G infrastructure, the future looks promising for faster connectivity, smarter devices, and new opportunities across various industries. As more companies join the race, the global 5G landscape is set to evolve quickly in the coming years.
