Companies like BAK Battery and Watmar have launched smart factory initiatives, significantly reducing costs and increasing production efficiency. BAK Battery, for instance, has achieved daily production of 1 million power batteries with just 30 workers per line, showcasing the potential of automation and data-driven processes.
Industry experts predict that by 2018, fewer than 50 power battery manufacturers will remain, as competition intensifies and weaker players are gradually eliminated. According to data from the Power Battery Laboratory of China North Vehicle Research Institute, the number of supporting companies dropped from 450 in 2015 to 96 in 2017, with a further halving expected by 2018.
