On November 17, Shenzhen Konka A announced its strategic move to invest RMB 1 billion in establishing Konka Multimedia Co., Ltd. (subject to official registration), focusing on the company’s color TV business and other multimedia services—excluding multimedia production. Following the establishment of this new entity, Konka Multimedia will allocate 700 million yuan to set up a domestic sales company and 300 million yuan to create two wholly-owned subsidiaries for export operations. These subsidiaries will handle the domestic sales and international distribution of Konka’s television and multimedia products.
In addition, the company revealed plans to invest 120 million yuan in a joint venture project, where Shenzhen Konka A will hold a 20% stake. This initiative is centered around the Yibin Sanjiangkou project, signaling Konka's intent to expand its industrial presence in Yibin City. The company expects this move to yield strong investment returns in the future.
According to a report from the Securities Times, Konka Group’s Chairman, Liu Fengxi, emphasized that the company is no longer solely focused on television manufacturing. Instead, it aims to transform into a diversified investment holding group. He outlined three main strategies: expanding into new product lines through mergers, acquisitions, or internal R&D; accelerating growth via investments and acquisitions using the platform of its listed company; and forming an IoT ecosystem by directly investing in selected Internet of Things companies, either through equity participation or shareholding.
Recent financial results show impressive growth. In the first half of 2017, Shenzhen Konka A reported a 32.49% year-on-year increase in revenue, while net profit surged by 140.53%. For the first nine months of the year, operating income reached 20.164 billion yuan, with net profit attributable to shareholders rising to 121 million yuan—an increase of 37.94% and 390.65%, respectively. These figures highlight the company’s strong performance and its successful transition toward broader market expansion.
