Lattice Semiconductor Corporation, a leading provider of custom smart interconnect solutions, joined forces with TPCAST ​​to announce the establishment of an exclusive partnership to provide wireless solutions for head-mounted display (HMD)-based VR systems. Lattice provides the WirelessHD® solution and a complete set of FPGA and ASSP products exclusively for TPCAST's VR applications, enabling low-latency, high-bandwidth wireless video transmission.

The TPCAST ​​protocol supports wireless transmission and feedback control of high-definition displays for smart devices and computers. The newly released TPCAST ​​2.0 protocol supports up to 4K resolution at a refresh rate of 120 Hz, enabling an immersive wireless VR experience with nearly zero latency transmission between the display and the controller.

The TPCAST ​​wireless upgrade kit uses the Lattice MOD6320-T/MOD6321-R WirelessHD module. The module provides nearly zero latency and stable non-line-of-sight transmission performance, making it ideal for VR applications. The TPCAST ​​solution also features the Lattice SiI9396 600 MHz HDMI® Bridge IC, LatticeECP3 FPGA with SERDES, and the TPCAST ​​2.0 protocol and algorithm. The combination of strength and stability makes this stable and reliable solution able to support wireless transmission of 2160 x 1200 resolution VR display at 90Hz refresh rate.
